Students who have not handed in the current events assignment due before winter break can see below for both the assignment and the article.
In Math we did a quick review of Ratios, Rates and Proportional Reasoning from before the break. This was followed by introducing the unit project on what our class would look like if it was a specific country. Students will research statistics of the country f their choice and then use their proportional reasoning skills to see how the class would be represented if it was a country. Some good websites to research sites include:
In Science, today we began our Human Body Systems Project. It is a big group project which will involve an oral presentations, a life size body systems gallery, a doctors panel and a quiz. Students have the rest of the week to work on the project and we will be ding various activities and presentations next week.
Before the break Grade 8s used and learned about microscopes. They were also asked how microscopes fundamentally changed our view of the world. This was followed by students learning the organelles within a cell and in groups they came up with various cell analogies that they shared with the class.
In Math we worked on a Golden Ratios Assignment. Students measured different body parts and tried to find if there were any golden ratios to be found in the human body.
