Students did a quick review of Ratios, Rates and Unit Rates today. If students still need to work on problems there are some attached below.
In Science students have been learning about microscopes and will be using them to complete a lab tomorrow. Overall, students should be able to explain how microscopes have changed our understanding of the world.

In math today we reviewed 2 and 3 term ratios and part to part/part to whole ratios. We moved onto rates starting with which rates we use and observe in real life. This led to the discussion of unit rates and how ofter we use them especially when pricing items of different sizes.
For extra practice students can do the following problems.
In Science, students continued to work on their Stem Cell Grows Up Assignment. It will be due on Monday, December 10.

We have moved onto the next unit in Science, Cells and Systems. So far students have covered two topics:
1) Characteristics of Living Things
2) Levels of Organization - Notes are attached below. Students will spend some time this week working on an assignment based on levels of organization.
,In Math students have been working on converting percents, fractions and decimals. Much of it is review from last year but in Grade 8 students are expected to further their understanding by being able to problem solve with percents greater than 100% and percents between 0 and 1.
This week we will be moving on to Ratios, Rates and some Proportional Reasoning.
