HEALTH Rotation #3
STEM 2- Develops skills to form and maintain healthy relationships
This unit is designed to be completed in 3-4 days of class time, with a small amount of additional work outside class time if only three (3) days can be devoted to it.
Students will be learning the similarities and differences between several unhealthy relationship choices and actions. This unit specifically deals with personal interactions seen in the news, social media, and in daily life that may be contributing to poor choices and a possible inability to form healthy relationships in life.
Students will also engage in preparing visual representations of their ideas towards understanding the means to form healthy friendships at home, in school, and in life.
Day 1: Introduction of terminology via pair-and-share and small group activities; culminating in a class discussion and brainstorming session.
Day 2: Creation of an individual 'Mind Map' showing the relationships between key terms and examples of unhealthy choices and actions as seen in the news, social media, pop culture, etc.
Day 3: Based on prior knowledge of what makes an unhealthy relationship, students will create a "Friend Wanted" poster.
Day 4: If applicable, students will have class time to complete their poster. See due dates below.
