Language Arts - Today in Language Arts we read aloud Chapter 2 of "The Outsiders". We also got an extra treat today because we had author Kenneth Oppel come in to speak to the school. In our session with Oppel he spoke about his book "This Dark Endeavor", which we will be reading as a grade. He also talked about his creative process; his ideas, workspace, and all the editing that goes into each of his novels.
Social Studies - Following our notes from last Thursday, students today were given their next activity, "Traveling the Silk Road". In this activity students are in groups of 4 and are in charge of researching a resource from a particular area. Once they have completed their research, students will complete a write-up, as well as create trading cards for their resource. This culminates in a large-scale trading experience. Today, students focused on creating their groups and determining which resource they would be responsible for researching.
Work Dates: Tuesday, October 24, Wednesday October 25, Thursday October 26, and Friday October 27
Due Date: Write-up for resource Monday, October 30
Reminder: All assignment materials can be found on D2L.
