I'm very sorry to miss you Grade 8, I am back at the hospital. Have a great day and a wonderful long weekend!!
Here are the slides to help you with the two worksheets about Work, Mechanical Advantage and Efficiency
Math Practice Questions are here:
Check out some of these videos for ideas: 1st 3 good variety:
*There is a check-in for Math on Monday -- what you missed Friday is at the bottom of this post, so scroll all the way through!
You need to be able to:
- use ordered pairs, coordinate points and table of values
- apply and determine equations
- describe graphing relationships
*If you have an extra practice booklet and have not checked it in, you need to do so even if it is not done!
*If you are seeking to achieve at the 4 level, please ensure you hand in extensions/take it further questions for analysis
Here is the problem we looked at Friday, and here is an example of how to describe a linear relationship. Below that are the problems we finished in class. Look for one like it on the check-in quiz.
What is the simple, every day task that is happening in this Rube Goldberg or Rube Goldberg inspired cartoons?
Remember; order of operations tells us we need to solve inside the brackets first --but what is there is an unknown number??
Use the distributive property; 3 is multiplied by the SUM of x and 5 -- so you can multiply 3 by each component within the brackets.
The equation then becomes 3x + 15 (because 3 times X and 3 times 5) = 36.
From there you can balance the equation as needed to find out what the variable is.
Here is a great mental math practice for today -- you can check your answers at
Here is the problem we encountered today.
Can you determine some equations to help you solve it?
Can you find the final answer?
EP 1 -- your choice if you need review
EP 2- #4 and #6 due in class TUESDAY
* #7 is the extension/challenge
EP 3 - #2 and #2 are due in class TUESDAY
*#5 is the extension/challenge as long as you develop a word problem to go with the equations
See the button below for the file. Answers will be posted in class.
Grade 8, please read over these options for your Interest Project for Light and Optics. On Monday you will express your interest and start some research. Don't forget; if you like the topic but not the mode of presentation, you are welcome to suggest an alternate idea!
As in all good brainstorming, I am giving almost no parameters right now in order to keep creative doors open! You need to choose an area of interests, you will have to do some research and you will have to present your findings somehow to a group of your peers. You might end up in a group, you might choose to work on your own. It's about YOUR interests. Please bring them and your thoughts AND questions on presentation options on Monday.
Have a great week!
