UNIT: "Start of Year" Review
TOPIC: Multiplication Basic Facts ( 13 x 13 )
TODAY: Continuation of math activities to practice and master basic multiplication facts. Remember that you want to have lots of room in the learning part of your brain (working memory) so you can acquire and master new skills. This means that you want to become proficient with your basic facts and ideally have "instant recall" so this knowledge ends up in the storage part of your brain (long term memory). This takes regular, ongoing practice.
PRACTICE WORK: Teach an adult in your home (someone that could sign your report card folder, for example) the activity that you played in class with a partner using a deck of cards. Remember the strategies that we reviewed when the factors were larger (for example 12 or 13). Play this game for at least 10-15 minutes. Have fun!
