Be ready for snack-n-chat this Monday! If possible, bring the book that you will be talking about during your book talk.
Today students started a project called Settlers of the New World, which is based on the game Settlers of Catan. In groups of four, students researched a specific explorer, where their ships sailed, and the resources that are found in those areas. Tuesday the classes will be writing a persuasive paragraph on whether their explorer is a hero or a villein, and on Wednesday and Thursday groups create their game board and play ten rounds of the game!
In Language Arts, classes are continuing with The Outsiders novel study.
Tomorrow students have their second journal entry for The Outsiders due.

City State Maps are overdue. Please hand those in tomorrow if you have not done so yet. Tomorrow is Homework Hotel, so if you need extra time/assistance for Humanities work please meet in Mrs. Midyette's room at lunch.
Today in Language Arts we started The Outsiders novel study and were introduced to many of the characters. As we work our way through the story students will have an opportunity to discuss the plot with peers as well as create some journal entries.
This week we will also be focusing on Humanism in the Renaissance and how that connects to our lives today in Canada.
